A recent leak in Genshin Impact has exposed unreleased combat animations for the character Xingqiu, indicating significant changes to the character's abilities and sound effects by HoYoverse. This leak follows a trend of revealing scrapped content from early versions of the game, shedding light on the developers' evolving vision for certain characters that didn't make it into the initial release.

Genshin Impact continuously introduces new content, including events, weapons, and characters in each version. Each character on gacha banners features unique combat animations, including small emotes known as idles, contributing to their distinctiveness in the world of Teyvat. In this leak, Xingqiu's original animations showcased the character executing swift sword attacks reminiscent of fencing. Notably, she generated an illusory sword rain and displayed signature weapon swings during short idle periods. The leaked animations confirmed that Xingqiu initially possessed an area-of-effect (AoE) Hydro damage skill in her kit. The developers had envisioned a powerful ability for Xingqiu involving rain swords descending from the sky, dealing AoE Hydro damage to multiple targets. Additionally, Xingqiu's initial sound effects were described as having a peculiar tone, drawing comparisons to the ambiance of Evangelion—an anime series. Speculation suggests that the character might have been intended as a five-star unit, given the potency of the proposed skills. Although Xingqiu's normal, charged, and plunging attack animations remained mostly unchanged, her elemental skill featured two charges and an added upward slash delivering Hydro damage, indicating the developers explored various concepts before finalizing the character.

In Genshin Impact, Xingqiu fulfills the role of an off-field DPS character, providing Hydro application to the team during combat. Coupled with his signature weapon, the Sacrificial Sword, which offers additional energy recharge, Xingqiu becomes a robust choice for various team compositions. Notably, pairing Xingqiu with Hu Tao maximizes his effectiveness, as the Polearm user triggers the Vaporize reaction.

Xingqiu, classified as a sword wielder, deals considerable damage in close encounters, featuring a balanced kit with AoE damage capabilities and defensive effects like healing and resistance to interruption. However, players note that Xingqiu's elemental skill has a relatively long cooldown, a characteristic expected from a four-star unit in the game.
