Anyone here regret getting PPF done on a new car in Dubai?

Hi guys, I picked up my new car around three weeks ago and now I'm stuck deciding if I should go ahead with paint protection film or just leave it as it is. A friend of mine keeps telling me Dubai roads can really mess up the paint because of sand, tiny stones, and the crazy heat during summer, but another friend said it's just an expensive extra and not really worth it unless you own a super luxury car. Honestly I'm somewhere in the middle because I do care about keeping the car clean and fresh for a few years, especially since this is the first car I bought completely on my own. Last weekend I noticed a very small mark near the front bumper after driving on Sheikh Zayed Road and that kind of made me nervous. Some shops seem affordable while others charge a huge amount and claim their film lasts forever. Front bumper marks after just driving on Sheikh Zayed Road pretty much confirms what your friend said about the roads here being rough on paint. Newer films have come a long way from those yellowing edges you're describing on older cars, that was more common with older generation products years back.

Don't regret mine at all honestly, front-end coverage alone would've saved me from at least a few small chips by now given how much highway driving I do. It's not just peace of mind, the physical protection is real especially on the areas facing forward.

Washing it yourself is totally fine after PPF, just stick to soft microfiber and proper car shampoo rather than anything abrasive or high pressure directly on edges. Mine's been easy to maintain on weekends, no different from washing a normal painted surface really.

The "lasts forever" claims from some shops are honestly a bit much, quality film with proper installation should last several years but nothing lasts truly forever with daily exposure. Worth being a little skeptical of shops making those kinds of absolute claims.

First car bought on your own is exactly the kind of situation where protecting it early makes sense, way easier to prevent damage than deal with respraying panels down the line. The yellowing you saw on older cars was mostly a first generation film issue, current PPF options handle UV exposure a lot better now.
