Anyone figured out better results with Matchmaking Ads?

I’ve been wondering lately why some matchmaking campaigns just don’t convert the way you expect. Like, you set everything up right, decent creatives, okay targeting… but still, results feel off. Has anyone else run into this with Matchmaking Ads?

For me, the biggest issue was low engagement turning into almost no actual signups. Clicks were coming in, but people just weren’t sticking around. It made me question whether it was the audience, the message, or just the whole funnel.

I tried tweaking a bunch of things. First, I changed the tone of the ads. Earlier, I was going a bit too polished, almost like a brand ad. Then I switched to something more real, like talking directly to someone looking for a connection. That alone made a noticeable difference. Also, I realized landing pages matter way more than I thought. If the vibe of the ad and the page doesn’t match, people just drop.

One thing that actually helped me understand the flow better was reading through some practical examples of Matchmaking Ads. It gave me a clearer idea of how messaging and intent should align. Not saying it fixed everything overnight, but it definitely pointed me in the right direction.

Another small thing that worked was simplifying the signup process. I had too many steps earlier. Once I reduced friction, conversions improved slightly.

I’m still experimenting, but it feels like matchmaking ads work better when they feel human, not like ads. Curious if others have tested something similar or found a better approach?
