Okay this is a really strange problem and I'm hoping someone has experienced something similar because I'm completely confused. I have a 2013 Chevrolet Spark that I use for getting around Sharjah. For the past year, I've noticed a very clear pattern – every time we get rain, which isn't often I know, but whenever it does rain, my car battery dies within 24 hours. The car will be starting perfectly fine for weeks or months with no issues, then we get a rainy day, and the next morning my battery is completely dead. It happened again last week after that storm we had. I got a jump start and the car was fine for a few days, but then it died again. I've replaced the battery twice in the past year and the same thing keeps happening. A friend suggested that maybe there's a short somewhere in my car's electrical system that only gets triggered when moisture gets in somewhere. Maybe a wire with damaged insulation or a connector that's not sealed properly. But I have no idea how to find something like that. I found a website where I can This detailed post about battery problems in Sharjah, but I haven't seen anyone mention rain as a trigger. Could it be that the rain is causing some belt to slip, like the alternator belt, so the alternator isn't charging properly when it's damp? Or could moisture be getting into the battery itself if there's a crack I haven't noticed? I'm not a mechanic so I don't even know where to start looking. Has anyone else had a car battery that died specifically after rain? What was the problem and how did you fix it? Is there something simple I can check myself, like looking for corroded wires or loose connections near the battery or alternator? I really need to solve this because I can't keep getting stranded every time it rains. Any advice from people who understand car electrics would be so appreciated. Please explain in simple terms what I should look for or what I should ask a mechanic to check. I'm tired of this mystery and I just want my car to work normally like everyone else's.
