Blizzard Entertainment has exciting news for Diablo 4 enthusiasts—soon, they'll be able to experience the game on Steam. This revelation emerged during the recent developer livestream, where discussions about Diablo 4's Season of Blood and upcoming quality-of-life enhancements for Sanctuary took place. The Diablo 4 community expressed discontentment, particularly concerning the handling of the Season of the Malignant, initially released with Patch 1.1. However, Blizzard is actively working to address concerns, and the upcoming Season aims to signify progress in that direction.

The Season is set to introduce fresh content, including new Bosses, Unique items, a stash search function, a stat overhaul, and more. A significant highlight is the addition of Uber Duriel, providing a means to farm Uber Uniques—a previously perceived challenging feat in Diablo 4. Despite a decrease in in-game player numbers and a drastic dip in Twitch viewership by over 98%, Blizzard remains committed to supporting Diablo 4 and is looking to expand its player base by launching the game on Steam.

Once exclusive to Battle.net on PC, Diablo 4 will join Overwatch 2 as the second major Blizzard title to be released on Steam, starting October 17 with the launch of the Season of Blood. Considering the review backlash Overwatch 2 faced upon its Steam launch, it's likely Diablo 4 might experience a similar response. Notably, while Overwatch 2 is free-to-play, Diablo 4 requires a purchase, potentially tempering the wave of negative reviews. Steam users will also need a Battle.net account for access, ensuring they benefit from the game's cross-platform play features.

Though Diablo 4 faced a challenging launch, its predecessor underwent a transformation with Reaper of Souls, eventually becoming a beloved Diablo franchise title. The path to redemption is clear, and with Diablo 4 as a live service title and multiple expansions on the horizon, Blizzard has ample opportunities to implement much-needed changes and satisfy the community.

Building on the Season of Blood's foundation, Season 3 will introduce leaderboards for Nightmare Dungeons, enhancing the gameplay experience. While Blizzard has confirmed that a major itemization overhaul isn't immediately underway, Diablo 4 enthusiasts should mark BlizzCon 2023 on their calendars for potential significant updates. With Diablo 4's imminent Steam release, it's plausible that World of Warcraft might follow suit in the near future.
