A fortunate Destiny 2 player recently obtained the missing piece they needed to transform their guardian into the infamous Doom Slayer from the Doom series. Fashion has always been a beloved aspect of Destiny 2, captivating players long before the introduction of the Appearance Customization system. Now, with the inclusion of armor transmog, players consistently elevate their style, not only to enhance their guardians' appearance but to resemble characters from various video games.

The customization system was initially introduced to players in the Season of the Splicer, featuring the Tower NPC, Ada-1, who made her debut in the game's fifth season, Season of the Forge. Players could complete a limited number of bounties each season to obtain materials to alter their armor's appearance. Bungie also encouraged players to experiment with their guardians' looks through Fashion Show contests, offering a chance to earn a unique emblem. Additionally, with the introduction of the highly requested Best Dressed commendation, players could commend others with the most stylish appearance, bestowing upon them the coveted commendation after activities.

On the Destiny Fashion subreddit, a dedicated space for showcasing various guardian styles, a user named warden-gundyr showcased how they transformed their Titan into the iconic video game character, Doom Slayer, from the Doom series. This transformation came after acquiring the Conditional Finality shotgun, a rare drop from the Root of Nightmares raid. Warden-gundyr sought suggestions to refine the look, opting for a slimmer build for their guardian inspired by the Doom 2016 reboot. They used a variety of pieces from different armor sets, including the controversial exotic leg armor, Antaeus Ward. All armor pieces were adorned with the Iron Banner shader, Iron Fuchsite, to replicate the distinctive appearance of Doom Slayer's armor.

The community expressed appreciation for the look, although some users suggested altering the helmet. Suggestions ranged from using a Witch Queen ritual helmet to utilizing the Survival of the Strong helmet ornament from the Guardian Games bundle when it becomes available in Destiny 2's microtransaction shop. While the Antaeus Wards might not perfectly match the Doom Slayer's appearance, warden-gundyr mentioned they prioritized functionality in PvP while still maintaining a semblance of the desired look.

Since its inception in 2017, Destiny 2 has undergone substantial changes, with Bungie continuously adding new features to the game. While players yearn for more extensive customization options, including altering their guardian's appearance, it's evident that fashion now stands shoulder to shoulder with gameplay and narrative. Players eagerly embrace the opportunity to transform their guardians to resemble characters from Star Wars or even Megamind. Consequently, the world of Destiny 2 feels more vibrant and alive, showcasing the community's creativity and passion for the game.
