This 4-Day Primates Safari offers an exciting opportunity to see Uganda's two most famous primates, chimpanzees and mountain gorillas, in their natural habitats. The safari begins with a transfer to Kibale National Park and a cultural tour, followed by chimpanzee trekking in one of Africa's top prime destinations. The adventure continues to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the memorable gorilla trekking experience. You will also visit the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi, known for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning views. The safari combines wildlife, culture, and scenic landscapes, making it an ideal short trip for travelers seeking close encounters with Uganda's remarkable primates and natural beauty.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kibale National Park, Cultural Tour

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport or pick-up from your hotel in Kampala, you will meet your safari guide for a briefing before beginning the drive to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. The journey takes you through beautiful countryside, tea plantations, local villages, and rolling hills. After arriving and checking into your lodge, enjoy a cultural tour within the nearby communities surrounding the park. This experience provides an opportunity to learn about local traditions, farming practices, music, dance, and daily life. The cultural visit offers a deeper understanding of the people who live alongside the forest and wildlife. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay as you prepare for the next day's chimpanzee trekking adventure.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, proceed to Kibale National Park headquarters for a briefing before starting chimpanzee trekking. Kibale is known as the primate capital of East Africa and is home to a large population of habituated chimpanzees. Accompanied by experienced ranger guides, you will walk through the forest in search of these fascinating primates while also spotting other monkey species, birds, and forest wildlife. Once the chimpanzees are located, spend an hour observing their behavior in their natural habitat. After the trekking experience, return to the lodge for lunch before beginning the scenic transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive in the evening, check into your lodge, enjoy dinner, and rest ahead of the gorilla trekking experience.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Lake Bunyonyi Visit

Following an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and expectations. You will then enter Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with park rangers and guides to search for a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trekking experience can take several hours depending on the gorillas' location, but the reward of spending one hour observing these gentle giants is truly special. Watch family interactions, feeding habits, and social behavior from a safe distance. After trekking, receive a gorilla trekking certificate and transfer to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. Spend the afternoon relaxing while enjoying views of the lake's islands and surrounding terraced hills. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a lodge near Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 4: Return to Kampala and Drop-Off

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Kampala. The drive offers opportunities to enjoy Uganda's countryside and make stopovers for photography and refreshments. You will stop at the Equator crossing point for photos, souvenirs, and a chance to stand in both hemispheres at once. Continue to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the late afternoon or evening depending on traffic conditions. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your 4-Day Primates Safari of Gorillas and Chimpanzees.
