Hey everyone, has anyone ever shipped a crossover or sedan from Europe to Almaty? I’m trying to decide whether to book a spot on an open car carrier to save money or pay extra for a closed container to protect the car from rocks and road salt during transit across several borders. Does anyone have contacts for reliable freight forwarders that insure paintwork rather than issuing general “total loss” insurance? Also, what is the current situation at customs posts regarding deposits for transit plates? I don't want my car to get stuck in the customs clearance zone for weeks due to bureaucratic delays.

And how to find a company that provides a photo report for each stage of transferring cargo? Could you recommend a reliable list of documents needed for the proper customs clearance of electric vehicles so that I don't end up paying unnecessary fees?

The first time I shipped a car, the biggest problem wasn’t the road. It was an improperly certified power of attorney for the driver. This caused the car to be held at the border for nearly a week. You shouldn't leave such matters to chance because legal liability for damage to the vehicle is often vaguely defined. The next time, I tried using the gettransport website to ship car to Kazakhstan, and it was a good experience, since you can find licensed carriers with clear contracts there. I chose a closed container to be safe, but they can advise you on other shipping methods so you can weigh all the pros and cons. Everything is clear, and no one will try to sell you unnecessary, expensive services.
